Shanna Mortensen-Dewsnup, Au.D.
Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Shanna Mortensen-Dewsnup is licensed in Arizona as a doctor of audiology and Dispensing Audiologist. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with an emphasis in Deaf Education, from Utah State University. She also studied at the University of Cincinnati where she obtained her degree as a Doctor of Audiology.
Dr. Mortensen-Dewsnup is Board Certified by the American Board of Audiology and is a member of the American Academy of Audiology and the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. She specializes in difficult hearing aid fittings and hearing rehabilitation. Dr. Mortensen-Dewsnup is an expert in hearing aid technology and hearing aid fittings. She has spoken extensively on hearing healthcare and is very passionate about educating individuals about hearing loss and treatment options. She is a clinical supervisor for audiology doctoral students who frequently rotate through her practice. Dr. Mortensen-Dewsnup has a passion for helping individuals and their families cope with hearing loss, and she finds joy in their success.
Dr. Mortensen-Dewsnup grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and she resides in Peoria with her family. She has two teenage boys. Her oldest son was born with a severe hearing loss, is legally blind, and has been wearing hearing aids since birth. He inspired her to go into the field of audiology. In her free time, she loves to travel, restore old Volkswagens, and spend as much time as she can with her family. She also runs a parent support website for families of children with hearing loss found at www.littleears.org and is in the process of creating a website for families of children who are deafblind called www.myusherlife.com.
Allison Sayer, Au.D.
Doctor of Audiology
Dr. Allison Sayer is licensed in Arizona as a Doctor of Audiology and Dispensing Audiologist. She obtained both her bachelor’s degree in Speech & Hearing Sciences and her Doctorate of Audiology degree at Arizona State University.
Dr. Sayer is a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, and the American Academy of Audiology. She specializes in pediatric audiologic evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and cochlear implant technology, and enjoys working with both children and adults to help them hear their best. She is passionate about following evidence-based practice, and enjoys keeping up on the most recent research in audiology.
Dr. Sayer is a native of Phoenix, Arizona and currently lives in Tolleson with her husband, her cat, and her dog. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, doing yoga, and experimenting with new baking recipes.
Matthew Wetmore, B.S.
Matthew Wetmore is currently completing his fourth year Doctoral Externship at Happy Ears Hearing Center. Matthew earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Illinois State University in 2012 as a Special Education major, specializing in Deaf Education.
Upon completing his undergraduate coursework, Matthew taught for two years as an itinerant teacher of the deaf where he worked with children of various ages with hearing loss. He then decided to pursue his passion of becoming an audiologist at Illinois State University. Matthew is an active member in the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) devoting the past two years as the Chair of Community Outreach in his local chapter. Matthew was born with hearing loss and successfully utilizes a cochlear implant and hearing aid. His clinical experience features a broad array of services ranging from pediatrics through adults. He enjoys developing relationships with his patients and helping them navigate the various challenges of hearing loss and bringing the joy of communication back into their lives.
Matthew grew up in Macomb, Illinois and currently resides in the Phoenix area. He loves spending time with his beautiful wife and daughter. His hobbies include running, cycling, and hiking outdoors. He is excited to join the Happy Ears Hearing Center team in serving the community.
Matthew will be graduating in May 2018 with his Doctorate Degree in Audiology.
Levi Young, B.A.
Levi Young is currently completing his Doctoral Externship at Happy Ears Hearing Center. Levi earned his Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Sciences with a focus in Audiology at Indiana University in 2015. During his doctorate program, Levi gained valuable clinical experience in Indiana as part of the Robert L. Milisen Speech and Hearing Center, Balance Point, Indianapolis Public Schools, and Indiana University Health Ear Nose and Throat.
While completing bachelor and doctoral coursework, Levi worked as a Research Assistant in the Audiology Research Laboratory and Indiana University. The aim of the study he worked on was to uncover sensory-cognitive interactions in older adults. Levi is an active student member in the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA), and he was president of a local chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association at Indiana University as an undergraduate. His professional passions include amplification technologies and aural rehabilitation.
Growing up and attending school in the Northern part of the country, Levi is eager to explore the beautiful landscapes offered in the Southwest. When Levi is not studying, he can be found exploring local music talent, cycling, adventuring outdoors or trying new recipes in the kitchen.
Levi will be graduating in May 2018 as a Doctor of Audiology.
