Dr. John D. Macias received a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Biological Sciences from Stanford University and received his Medical Doctorate with Honors from Stanford University Medical School. He completed his clinical internship in general surgery at the University of Iowa and his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Iowa and a fellowship in Neuro-Otology and Skull Base Surgery at The Otology Group in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Macias is Board Certified in both Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Neurotology.
Dr. Macias is a member of numerous international and local medical societies, including the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Otological, Rhinological and Laryngological Society (The Triological Society), the American Neurotology Society, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Otological Society.
Dr. Macias is the Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Arizona. He also founded and is President of the EAR Foundation of Arizona, a 501(c) 3 non-profit community service organization, which helped bring universal newborn hearing screening to the State of Arizona and monitors the program for the state, provides hearing aids to children, and performs research on otologic disorders.
